Setting up ComfyUI on RunPod with persistent storage allows you to harness the power of Nvidia 50-series GPUs while maintaining your work between sessions. This guide shows you how to configure RunPod with network storage so you can shut down your server and resume your work later without losing progress. To begin, sign up for a RunPod account and fund it with at least $5. Navigate to the Storage tab and click "New Network Volume." Select a region that offers 5090 GPUs; Europe currently has availability. Name your volume for your reference only and choose a conservative storage size, recommended at 50GB. You can increase this later, but not decrease it. Next, go to the Pods section and click "Deploy." Select your newly created network volume and choose a 5090 GPU from the Secure Cloud option, which is preferred over Community Cloud. Select the PyTorch 2.8 template. Click "Edit Template" and add port 8188, which is ComfyUI's default port. Finally, click "Set Overrides" and then "Deploy on Demand." Once your pod is running, connect to JupiterLab from the pod's connect options. Open a terminal in JupiterLab and download the setup script using: `wget https://[script-url] -O comfy_setup.sh`. Run the script with: `bash comfy_setup.sh`. Wait approximately 10 minutes for the script to complete installation. After the script completion, activate the base environment: `source ~/miniconda3/etc/profile.d/conda.sh`. Open a new terminal window; you should see "base" prefixed. Activate the ComfyUI environment: `conda activate ComfyUI`. Navigate to the ComfyUI directory: `cd ComfyUI`. Finally, start ComfyUI: `python main.py --listen`. To access ComfyUI, return to your RunPod tab. Expand your pod and click "Connect." Select the 8188 port option, and the ComfyUI interface will now load in your browser. Your ComfyUI installation is now running on RunPod with persistent storage. In a future guide, we'll cover how to download and install models to use with your ComfyUI setup.
